Over the lifetime of the project (which we expect to be up to 25 year), it will invest over £19 million into projects across North Wales.

The Gwynt y Môr Fund has now surpassed the £5 million invested milestone, with 435 grants and counting awarded so far. From the smallest grant of £200, right the way up to the largest of over £160,000, the Gwynt y Môr Fund is having a significant impact on the local community.

The fund is administered by Community & Voluntary Support Conwy (CVSC) in co-operation with Denbighshire and Flintshire councils for voluntary services. Full details about the fund criteria, the area of benefit, application process and who has received funds so far, can be found here.
All decisions on the allocation of funding are made by a panel of local volunteers who live, work or volunteer in the area of benefit for the fund.
Each has knowledge, experience and an empathy for the third sector and the challenges facing community groups and organisation. To ensure a “joined up” approach to projects and regional initiatives we have a representative from each of the three Local Authorities, the county voluntary councils (FLVC, DVSC and CVSC) together with respected and motivated individuals with a lifetime of voluntary sector skills and practical experience.
As part of the Community Fund launch Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm awarded a £570,000 donation to the RNLI in North Wales. This funding package supported a new rescue support vehicle based at St Asaph which has been deployed to incidents across the region and further afield when required.
The vehicle also proven to be invaluable even further afield during flooding in Cumbria, December 2015. The vehicle was called upon by the RNLI’s Flood Rescue Team to assist those communities and families in need with over 200 people being evacuated.
Gwynt y Môr recognises that training turns volunteers into lifesavers. The funding package also supported training for all the volunteer crews along the North Wales Coast for the first five years of the wind farms lifetime, at the Llandudno, Conwy, Rhyl and Flint lifeboat stations.
