Project progress

The 18 turbine site will be located to the north east of Carsphairn and approximately 6km to the south of Dalmellington, and will be capable of producing up to 59.4MW of electricity.

Since launching its proposals in 2012, RWE Renewables (formerly E.ON Climate & Renewables) has worked closely with the community and undertaken extensive consultation to understand local concerns. RWE Renewables will continue to liaise with them via the Community Liaison Group for the next stage of this project.

Latest news

Since then, we have undertaken a series of project reviews to optimise the project in order to maximise the efficiency and the financial viability of the project.

The result of these reviews was that the project required better performing turbines, and as such these would need to be slightly taller.

Therefore, a variation application has been submitted to change our current consent from 130m tip height to 149.9m to tip. The layout of the project will remain unchanged but the maximum size of each turbine will increase by 20m to 149.9m. The result of this increase will also improve the output of each turbine from 3.3MW to 4.8MW.

History of the Project

We received planning consent in 2017 following a public inquiry. The consent granted was for 18 turbines up to 130m tip height.
