Project Background
The proposed Clachaig Glen Wind Farm is located near Muasedale on the Mull of Kintyre in Argyll & Bute.
At the end of 2019, RWE received consent from the Scottish Government for the 14 turbine scheme.
Latest Update
Since receiving consent RWE has carefully been reviewing its options for the site going forward. As you will appreciate, the renewables industry, and in particular turbine technology, has evolved considerably since the application was submitted in 2016. We have therefore been reviewing the proposals to try and maximise the efficiency of the scheme, including the use of more modern and efficient turbines.
It is important to note that part of this process included reviewing the entire Kintyre peninsula in detail for potential sites that can accommodate larger turbines, and following that extensive review RWE are of the view that the Clachaig Glen site offers one of the best opportunities within Kintyre and that of Argyll, whilst minimising and mitigating impacts within the region.
Application submitted
We have now submitted our planning application to the Scottish Government. As such, this now starts the period of formal consultation. The planning documents are listed on this page under the “Planning Documents” drop down tab. They are also available to view on the Scottish Government website at www.energyconsents.scot under application reference ECU00002103. Please send any representations directly to the Scottish Government and should be received no later than 25th April 2022, although Ministers may still consider representation received after this time.
