Five Estuaries Offshore Wind Farm is being developed as an extension to the existing Galloper Offshore Wind Farm, also operated by RWE.
Covering 128km2 across two seabed areas, the wind farm would be located 37km offshore at its closest point to Suffolk and make landfall in Tendring, Essex at Sandy Point between Frinton-on-Sea and Holland-on-Sea before connecting to the National Grid near Little Bromley, Essex.

Five Estuaries submitted an application for development consent in March 2024. The Planning Inspectorate will take around a month to review the application to ensure that it meets the required standards. If successful, the Project will move into the pre-examination period.
RWE is leading the development of the project. Five Estuaries’ project partners are RWE (33.33%), a Macquarie-led consortium (25%), ESB (20.83%) and Sumitomo Corporation (20.83%).
