Top Tips for Applicants

Prepare Your CV

Make sure you read the apprenticeship advert carefully, and include everything you feel may be relevant within your CV. Include your educational information and grades, but be sure to include any work or life experience that helps you to stand out. Tell us why you would be the ideal candidate!

Cover Letter

This is your chance to tell us about your motivation and your passion for joining RWE! Whilst a CV tells us the hard facts, your cover letter can be more personal. We receive a lot of CVs, many from individuals with similar education and experience. Often, a passionate, well written cover letter can be the deciding factor on who we want to interview!

Assessment Centres

If you are chosen for interview, you will be invited to one of our assessment centres. This typically involves an interview, written tests and group exercises with other potential candidates – the whole process usually lasting around 3-4 hours.

This is your chance to make a good first impression. Dress appropriately, arrive on time, introduce yourself, and then relax. Experiences like this can make anyone nervous, but everybody is in the same situation. Support other candidates where you can, and direct any questions or concerns you might have to the RWE employees in attendance. They are there to support and guide you through the process, as well as assess the candidates.

Interview

As with all stages of the recruitment process, its important to be prepared. Before the assessment centre, it may be beneficial if you think about what you may be asked during the interview. Think about how you will answer these questions, and how your answer will showcase your experience and talent. Think about any questions you might want to ask the interviewers in return.

Being properly prepared for the interview gives you the best possible chance of showing us how great you are!

Enjoy the Process

Finally, it is important to enjoy and learn from the whole process. If you are not successful on this occasion, identify what went well and what could be improved. We open our apprenticeship schemes annually, and welcome previous applicants who have had another year or two to develop themselves.

With these tips in mind, you should be well on the way to a great application. Good luck, and we look forward to hearing from you!
